Dear Reader,

I don’t have a recipe or video for you this week—my family has been busy soaking up summer at the lake, swimming, and fishing. But I do have some exciting news to share.

This autumn, my husband and I will be heading to Budapest and Vienna to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. Along the way, I’ll also be filming videos to showcase the rich baking traditions of these two historic Austro-Hungarian cities.

I’m so excited to finally weave travel into my videos! While baking is my passion, my dream for this channel has always been bigger than recipes alone. I want to step into the places these foods call home, meet the people who make them, and learn the stories behind each tradition.

Budapest and Vienna are famed for their grand coffeehouses, some as breathtaking as cathedrals. For generations, they were the gathering places of artists, politicians, writers, and great thinkers, all enjoying coffee with pieces of Dobostorta, Gerbeaud slice, Esterházy torta, Sachertorte, and more.

If there’s anything you’d like me to film or showcase while I’m there, just hit reply and let me know. I’m still planning the details—only the flights are set—so if you have a specific baked good, coffeehouse, or tradition you’d love to see, I’ll do my best to add it to my list.

And if you live in Hungary or Austria, please get in touch! I have so much to learn and would be grateful for your help shaping the details of this trip. I’m especially looking for connections to bakers or locals who could share a traditional recipe—or simply chat about the local food culture.

I can’t wait to share the history and flavors of these legendary spots with my viewers. Stay tuned for more updates as my trip gets closer.

Until next time, happy baking!

Kristin
