This week on the channel I’m featuring a traditional apple cake from the Czech Republic called Hraběnčiny řezy, or Countess’ Slices. It’s a beloved autumn bake in Czech kitchens and is also enjoyed in neighboring countries.
What sets this cake apart is its unique structure: a base of shortcrust pastry, a layer of shredded apples, a cloud of meringue, and a final topping of grated shortcrust. The result is a one-of-a-kind texture and flavor.

I hope you’ll tune in and give the recipe a try this season!
Until next time, happy baking!
