Dear Reader,
Because I took such a long absence from the channel this summer, I decided to drop three new videos for you this week:
Hungarian Rákóczi Túrós—This is a classic Hungarian dessert made with a buttery shortcrust base, a creamy sweetened curd cheese filling, and a delicate lattice of apricot jam and meringue on top. Light yet indulgent, it’s a beloved treat often found in Hungarian cafés and pastry shops.
Danish Brunsviger—This one might look familiar as I shared it in an email a couple of week’s ago. This beloved Danish coffee cake made with a soft yeasted dough and topped with a rich, caramelized mixture of butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon was too good not to share on YouTube. I also delve a bit more into its traditions and history in the video.
English Flapjacks—Another familiar one! These are chewy, buttery oat bars sweetened with golden syrup and brown sugar, sometimes topped with chocolate or dotted with dried fruit. Simple and wholesome, they’re a beloved British bake perfect for tea time or packing into lunchboxes. I decided this also deserved a video because of their ease! A note: I altered the recipe a bit to include more oats because I received some feedback that the one I previously shared was a bit too loose and had a hard time setting in the oven.
I hope you enjoy the videos and get to try at least one of the recipes! For the taste of autumn in a slice of cake, go for the Brunsviger. For a showstopping dessert to impress your guests, try the Rákóczi Túrós. And for a quick treat you can whip up in just 10 minutes, make the Flapjacks!

Until next week, happy baking!
